You will meet your trainer who will outline the schedule of course.
Warmers and classroom management
Trainer will instruct you to participate in a number of different icebreakers followed
by feedback and analysis of the tasks and why these activities are valuable in the
TEFL classroom.
9.30am – 11.00am
Grammatical awareness (Tenses)
We will look at Form, Meaning and Pronunciation. Your trainer will then teach you
an authentic grammar lesson focusing on a common tense.
Planning. Using the P.P.P. and T.T.T. approach
Followed by group feedback of the different stages of the lesson. Candidates are
then given the lesson plans.

Needs analysis and learning styles
Candidates discover the importance of understanding the unique needs of individual
classes.
12.25am – 1.00pm
Controlled Practice and error correction
Activities for students to practice new language in the classroom
Gap fills, controlled information gap tasks, cloze tasks, sentence transformations
and the use of effective error correction techniques.
1.00pm – 2.30pm LUNCH and Class Level Homework
2.30pm – 3.30pm
Functions: Watch an authentic TEFL lesson (video) with lesson plan,
followed group tasks and discussion.
3.30pm
Grammar: You will observe your trainer teach from a lesson plan
followed by a class discussion on the rationale on the structure of the lesson.
4.00pm – 4.30pm
Feedback on class levels homework
4.30pm – 4.50pm BREAK
4.50pm – 6.00pm
Lesson Preparation Students prepare a short lesson presenting a
simple grammar tense
Grammar, Methodology, Course book reference provided.
6.00pm – 8.00pm
Teaching Practice One
Small groups teach to peers who become non-native students
Feedback on lesson plans and finally a discussion of tomorrow’s itinerary.
9.00am – 10.00am
Teaching a vocabulary lesson:
Activities and games for memory and revision of new words and memory techniques
10.00am – 11.00am
EFL Employment:
Finding work abroad and in the UK
Your group will also look at some current and live vacancies that will be available
to you on completion of this TEFL UK course.
11.00am – 11.30am BREAK

Teaching a skills-based EFL lesson:
Reading and Writing. Watch an authentic TEFL writing lesson (video) with lesson
plan, followed group tasks and discussion.
Listening and Speaking
Adapting authentic texts for use in the classroom
